Once you have made the decision to seek help, we can arrange a mutually convenient time to hold a 10-15 minute telephone conversation. This is free of charge. If we are able to meet your needs we can arrange an initial assessment.
In our first meeting, you will have the opportunity to talk about your concerns, including how the difficulty developed, how long you have been concerned and what you have already tried to overcome it. Together we will try and create a shared understanding of the current difficulties and think about the most appropriate way forward.
For families this appointment will generally be with the young person and their parents/carers or other important family members. Some young people really value the opportunity to be seen on their own and sometimes it is helpful to see parents on their own so we can tailor the appointments on an individual basis. The appointment will last one and half hours.
We know this process can feel a little bit daunting but we have met with lots of new people and we will try our very best to ensure that it's a relaxed and positive experience for everyone involved.
The initial assessment allows us to decide whether therapy is the most appropriate next step. If it is agreed that some regular therapy sessions would be helpful, we can plan these sessions. Generally, these sessions will be on a weekly basis and we will work together on clearly identified goals which will be regularly reviewed.
Clinical Psychologists follow a strict code of ethics outlined by the British Psychological Society. We will, therefore, only offer therapy sessions if we feel they are beneficial to you and will always offer the minimal number of sessions required to achieve your therapy goals.
Castle Psychology is an approved provider with a number of health insurance companies. Please speak to your insurance company to find out what your policy covers, as policies vary. Once authorised, we will deal directly with your insurance company.
For clients who do not have private insurance, please contact us directly for information on our fee structure. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or bank transfer on the day of the appointment. Payment can also be made at the start of each session, using a secure card reader that accepts all major debit and credit cards.
We ask that, where possible, you give a minimum of 48 hours' notice if you wish to cancel your appointment. When no or insufficient notice is given, the full session fee will be charged.
